Chester ?Chet? Lee Bass

Chester ?Chet? Lee Bass, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at Heart to Heart Hospice in Evansville. He was born on August 21, 1943, in Boonville, Indiana, to the late Johnie and Anna (Lutz) Bass.
Chet was a 1961 graduate of Tennyson High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for eight years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. On October 16, 1965, he married the love of his life, Linda, and together they shared 60 years of marriage.
He devoted 40 years of service as a machine mechanic at Alcoa before retiring in 2003. A devoted family man, Chet found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Boonville, and a Freemason. He lived his life guided by integrity, faith, and love.
Chet will be remembered as a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bass; his children, Mark Bass (Melissa), Julie Sauceda, and Daniel Bass (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Bella Bass, Nathan Bass, Cecily Frank (Travis), Ashly Holder, Lindsey Sauceda, Bailey Garrison, Tori Poland, Austin Sauceda, Hallee Sauceda, and Bryden Bass; and his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Emmalyn, Lynna, Xayne, Gracelynn, Dallas, Logan, Annora, Averi, and Grayson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charlie and Ralph Bass; his sister, Dorothy Newton; and his son-in-law, Craig Sauceda.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Koehler Funeral Home, 304 East Main Street, Boonville, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice and the staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their compassion and exceptional care of Chet.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 214 E. Walnut St., Boonville, IN 47601.
