Dorothy Jean Bassett (Picture included)

Dorothy Jean Bassett, 76, of Nampa, Idaho passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. Dorothy was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on May 12, 1938 to Oliver and Agnes Lyle. Dorothy graduated from Springfield High School and came to Idaho in the fall of 1956 to attend NNC. On August 14, 1959 she married Richard Bassett at the Franklin Road Nazarene Church in Nampa. They were blessed with three children and five grandchildren. Dorothy did occasionally work part-time, but her primary roles were as a wife, mother and homemaker. The family always ate dinner together and usually enjoyed a delicious homemade dessert after. She was a great planner, hostess, decorator and cook. Most importantly she loved Jesus and is now rejoicing with him in Heaven.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents, Oliver and Agnes Lyle and her brother Curt Lyle. She is survived by her daughter Denece (Toby) Fisher, sons Durwin (Wendy) Bassett and Don (Angie) Bassett, five grandchildren, Tara Kennedy, Conner Bassett, Caleb Bassett, David Bassett and Lauren Bassett and siblings Leota Foy, Doug Lyle, Lorraine Rice, Judy Russell, Arnie Lyle and Barb Winters.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 5th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. So. Nampa. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6th at 2:00 pm at Karcher Church of the Nazarene, 2515 W Karcher Rd, Nampa.
