Thelma J. Bass
Thelma Jolly Bass, 87, of Colonial Heights, Va., widow of Carlus ""George"" Bass, died May 10, 2016. Born in Petersburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Early Edward and Emma Puckett Jolly. She was also preceded in death by four of her siblings, Colean J. Grinstead, Hilda J. Longerbeam, Robert E. Jolly and Lewis F. Jolly. She was a lifelong member of West End Baptist Church and a retired employee of Allied Chemical.
Mrs. Bass is survived by her daughters, Sandra J. Ellis and husband, John, and Cindy J. Thornsvard and husband, Harry; grandchildren, Jay Ellis, Blaire Wyatt and Shannon Grey; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth J. Marable and Patricia J. Perkins and husband, Spencer; sister-in-law, Betty Jolly.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Southlawn Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Mark Hughes officiating. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
