Floyd R, Bass
BASS - Floyd R. Bass, son of Minola and Albert Bass, was born in Lucas County, Iowa July 1, 1900 and passed away at his home in Humeston October 4, 1967, at the age of 67 years, three months and four days.
He spent most of his life in Lucas County, 42 years of that on his folks farm near Eden. In the fall of 1963 he and his brother, Glenn, moved to their present home in Humeston.
Floyd united with the Presbyterian church in Derby at an early age and after moving to the Eden community he attended the Eden Baptist church near his home.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sisters, Hazel and Jessie and one brother, Fred. Surviving are one sister, Maude Clark of Blain, Wash., and his brother, Glenn, who tenderly cared for him during his illness; also two brothers-in-law, Otto Clark of Blain, Wash. and Bob Alexander of near Derby; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Floyd farmed until he retired and moved to Humeston. He kept active with various types of employment in the community. He was always ready to help friends and neighbors until poor health prevented him from doing these acts of kindness.
He will be greatly missed by those close to him.
The Rev. Roy E. Jones was officiating minister at the funeral services. Pallbearers were Hoyt Snyder, Kenneth Vandell, Cecil Hall, Hollie Pearson, Noble Crumpacker, Howard Swainey. Flower arrangements were by Marietta Tuttle and Beverly Watsabaugh. Singers were Reva Gould and Nancy Moore and were accompanied by Curtis Tuttle. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery.
