Miss Butler Is Married to Mr. Bass
SOUTH BOSTON ? Historic old Griers Presbyterian Church in Caswell County, N.C., was the scene of the wedding on Christmas Eve at 5 o?clock of Miss Catherine Mildred Butler and Curtis Clifton Bass. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Butler of Caswell County, N.C., and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bass of South Boston.
The Rev. Roy F. Whitley, the bride?s pastor, performed the ceremony. The altar was banked with Christmas evergreens and vases of white flowers. Cathedral candles were used on either side of the altar and in the chandelier.
Miss Lorene Bass, sister of the groom, who was maid of honor, wore a dress of dusty rose with matching accessories. Miss Margaret Butler, sister of the bride, wore wine with black accessories. Their corsages were of mixed flowers blending with their dresses.
Little Miss Marian Smith, cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid and wore a dress of blue and carried a miniature nosegay.
The bride entered with her father. Her costume was of soldier blue, with which she wore brown accessories, and a corsage of talisman roses and valley lilies.
Mr. Bass had as best man his brother, Early Bass.
Immediately after the ceremony the couple left for a short wedding trip. Upon their return, they will be at home in Caswell County, N.C.
Monday evening following the rehearsal, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Murphy entertained the bridal party.

Catherine Butler Bass
Leasburg, NC - Catherine Butler Bass, 89 of 2645 NC Hwy. 119 North, Leasburg, NC died Wednesday, December 21, 2006 at the Brian Center, Yanceyville, NC.
Mrs. Bass was born July 28, 1917 in Caswell County, the daughter of the late Elwood Butler and Mammie Smith Butler.
She was a lifetime member of Griers Presbyterian Church, having joined at twelve years of age, a homemaker and member of Leasburg Ruritan Club. Mrs. Bass was married to Curtis C. Bass who preceded her in death in 1994.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Curtis Ann Hamlett and her husband, Randy of Leasburg, NC, Linda Cobb of Yanceyville, NC, one son, Wayne Bass of Leasburg, NC, five granddaughters, Traci Coleman, Carolyn Poteat, Tina Barts, Amy Webster and Chastity Bass, six great grandchildren and one sister, Margaret Hamlett of Leasburg, NC.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bass was predeceased by three brothers, Walter Butler, Carl Butler and Melvin Butler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Griers Presbyterian Church with Reverend Richard Ladew officiating. Interment will be in the Hebron Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm at the church, prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Mrs. Bass.
