Funeral services were held November 17 at 11 a.m. from Sigler Funeral Home Chapel for Lowell Whittier Bassett, 77, who died Saturday, November 15, 1997.
Reverend John McGee and Dr. William Boyd officiated. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Bassett, a resident of Vernal, Mississippi (George County) was a retired lathe operator and a member of the Vernal Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Irvington Lodge #666 F.&A.M., later called the Prospect Lodge #714 F.&A.M., and also a Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd Degree.
Mr. Bassett was preceded in death by a son Lowell Whitter (Buddy) Bassett, Jr., his parents, Earl Clarence Bassett and Sadie Estelle Myrick Bassett.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Bassett, Vernal, Mississippi, a son, Rudolph Hall, Mobile, Alabama; a daughter, Janice Eubanks, Vernal, Mississippi; three brothers, Robert Holcomb Bassett and John McDuffie Bassett, both of Mobile, Alabama and Paul McGehee Bassett, Prince Fredrick, Maryland; three sisters, Marie Lucille Negas, Mobile, Alabama; Beverly Joyce Griffith, Pensacola, Florida; Ruth Earline West, Santa Cruz, California.
Sigler Funeral Home, Lucedale, was in charge of arrangements.
Funeral Rites Held for Lowell Bassett
Funeral services for Lowell Whitter Bassett, 77, of Vernal were held November 17 at 11 a.m. at Sigler Funeral Home Chapel.
He was a retired lathe operator with General Motors in Indianapolis, Indiana and a member of Vernal Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Irvington Lodge #666 F.&A.M., later called the Prospect Lodge #714 F.&A.M. He was also a Scottish Rites of Freemasonry 32nd degree, and received his 50th year Mason pin in 1994. He died November 15, 1997 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Bassett of Vernal; a son, Rudolph Hall of Mobile, Alabama; and a daughter, Janice Eubanks of Lucedale and a grandson, Andrew Eubanks, also of Lucedale.
Also surviving are three brothers, Robert Holcomb Bassett and John McDuffie Bassett of Mobile; and Paul McGehee Bassett of Prince Fredrick, Maryland; and three sisters, Marie Lucille Negas of Mobile, Alabama; Beverly Joyce Griffith of Pensacola, Florida; and Ruth Earline West of Santa Cruz, California.
