      Cletus E. Bass Sr.

      Evansville, Ind. Cletus E. Bass Sr., 69, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

      Cletus was born in Evansville, Indiana, on June 3, 1944, to Charles R. and Lois (Cundiff) Bass. He was a member of United General Baptist Church. Cletus enjoyed playing golf, traveling and flower gardening. He loved spending time with his family, especially playing baseball with his grandchildren.

      Cletus is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda (LaForrest) Bass, of Evansville, Ind.; son, Cletus E. Bass II (Sandra), of Cynthiana, Ind.; his mother, Lois (Cundiff) Bass Hatfield; sisters, Carolyn White, of Steger, Ill., Vera White, of Poseyville, Ind., Phyllis Vailes (Bill), of Evansville, Ind.; brother, Donald E. Bass, of Manteno, Ill.; aunt, Lucille Brooks, of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Ashlynn Bass, Sean Bass and Lucas Bass, all of Evansville, Ind.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and his Leader Dog and longtime companion, Leland.

      Cletus was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Bass; brother, Charles R. Bass and his wife, Sue; brothers-inlaw, Iven White and Clifford White; sister-in-law, Sue Bass.

      Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Raymond Abbott officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

      Friends may visit from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Browning Funeral Home and again from noon until service time Monday.
