Durward Bellmont Bass and Birdie Mable Wilkins
Durward Bellmont Bass and Biride Mable Wilkins, were m Sept. 13, 1925 in South Fulton, TN. Durward the son of Christian Cratus and Flora Housman Bass (See Bass-Housman) was b. Nov. 15, 1905 near Fremont in McCracken Co. KY.
Mable the daughter of John Robertson and Pearl Hodges Wilkins (see Wilkins) was b. Sept. 15, 1908 near Dogwood in Graves Co. KY.
Durward worked for Edgewood Dairy and City Consumers from 1923 to 1927, from June 1927 until 1931 he served his apprenticeship as a plasterer with James Haggerty. He worked as a plastgerer in Paducah. In 1934 Durward with his wife and daughter worked at The Dodge Main Plant. During WWII Mable also worked at the Dodge Plant.
In 1947 the family moved back to Paducah. Durward worked for Mathis Plastgering Contractor and Coy Jones Plastering COntreacto. In 1950 Durward and Buddy Young went into business as Bass and Young Plastgering Conctractors, they were in business together through 1959. Durward retired from full time work in 1970 but continued to work part time for Lassiter Plaster Co., until 1978. Durward and Mable belong to West End Baptist Church. Mable has been active in the Women?s Club of Paducah and the McCracken County Homemakers.
Durward and Mabler have one daughter Bettie Ann Bass b. Mar. 22, 1927 in Paducah. Bettie graduated from McKenzie High School in Detroit in 1945 and attended Wayne State University in Detroit. She returned to Paducah with her parents in 1947. Bettie was worked in the offices of The Detroit Bank, and Michiganh Bell Telephone in Detoirt and Life and Casualy Ins. Co., Speigel Catalog Centger and Howard Discount Center in Paducah.
Bettie was m Dec. 2, 1948 at Immanuel Baptist Church to John Dean Tate (see Tate), they have three daughters: Lucinda Deann Ragland, Lorna Lynn Hite and Mona Lee Blankenshiop. Submitted by Bettie B. Tate.
