Frederic Bassett
Frederick A. Bassett, 83, a former harnessmaker, died Wednesday at his home after a short illness. For the last 10 years he had lived with a son, Neil, at 2131 N. 13th st.
Mr. Bassett started as a harness-maker when he was 16 years old and stayed in the business until he was 55. He worked in Fond du Lac, Wis.; Calumet, Mich., and for old Milwaukee leather companies. Before he retired in 1940, he operated a sawdust distributing company for several years.
A native of Fond du Lac, Mr. Bassett came to Milwaukee 40 years ago. He formerly lived at 2033 N. 12th st., where he still had a workshop where he would do occational leather work.
Surviving, in addition to Neil Bassett, are three other sons, James and Fred, Milwaukee, and Thomas, Los Angeles; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Stanaway, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Martha Morgan, Laurium, Mich.; a brother, George, San Diego, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Juliette La Vallee and Mrs. Clara Chamberlain, both of Fond du Lac.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Powondra funeral home, 2024 N. 12th st. Burial will be in Union cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday.

Services Mon., Dec. 17, at 1:30 p.m., from Powondra Funeral Home, 2024 N. 12th st. Interment Union, IN STATE SAT. AFTER 7 P.M.
