August 7, 2023 Joseph "Jay" Bassett, 86, a resident of Glen Burnie, Maryland, died on Monday, August 7, 2023 at University of Maryland Medical Center. He was born on Tuesday, May 26th, 1937 in Fairmount, Maryland to Lula and Arthur Bassett, Sr.. Mr. Bassett served honorably in the US Air Force from 1955 until 1958. He began his career with Western Electric in 1960 which eventually became AT&T. In 1984 he and his wife moved to Florida for his job. He retired from AT&T in 1989 with 35 years of service. He and his wife returned to Glen Burnie, Maryland. in 2019. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Arthur Bassett, Jr. Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Priscilla Bassett, his children Michael Bassett and his wife Denise, Bonnie Walker and her husband Mark, and Brenda Barrett and her husband Ray, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services and interment are private.
