- William P. and Robert Harry first immigrated to California while in
their teens, after their parents died, with a little money left to them by an
uncle. They first tried fruit farming and later moved north to Victoria,
British Columbia, Canada. (Provided by Sally Smith)
Robert was a master carpenter and had his own business for a time called
"Brakes & Bassett Construction". He later worked as a carpenter for the
Victoria School Board.
