Herman Bass
Herman Bass, or as he would say "Her man", 89, of Evansville, Indiana, passed peacefully into the loving presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Evansville Protestant Home Inc. Herman was born in Stendal, Indiana on October 15, 1932 to the late Noble and Milia (Leslie) Bass. He retired after over 40 years of service from Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company. Herman was a former Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent at North Haven General Baptist Church where he served for over 20 years. Together with his wife, Doris, they served with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) in the Southern Indiana region for over 50 years. Herman also served on the Indiana State Board of CEF. Herman and Doris helped establish a national ministry in Poland associated with CEF International called Misja Ewangelizacyna Wsrod (MED). Herman served as an elder at Christian Fellowship Church where he helped start the missions program and was a faithful member for over 45 years. He helped form the North American Board of Christian Leadership Development for training pastors in the world's remote areas of Central and South America and served as a volunteer and fundraiser for numerous faith based ministries. Herman is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Doris Rae (Hughes) Bass of Evansville, IN; daughters, Pamela Bass of Evansville, IN and Belinda Roettger (Thomas) of Finksburg, MD; and son, Steven Bass (Elaine) of Evansville, IN; sister, Helen Brown of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Vonda June Bass of Boonville, IN; grandchildren, Angela Bass Brenner, Allissa Wheatley, Megan DeRemigis, Nate Elder, Sarah Russell, Samuel Roettger, Michaela Roettger; great grandchildren, Maddox Brenner, Emri Wheatley, Irelynn Brenner, Iyla Wheatley, Rowan DeRemigis and baby girl Russell on the way; nephew, Ronald Bass; nephew, Terry Bass; niece, Jena Bass; niece, Suzanne Furman and nephew, Greg Brown. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harold Bass; niece, Jacqueline Bass; nephew, Larry Bass; brother-in-law, Ralph Brown; niece, Deborah Brown and nephew, David Brown. A celebration of Herman's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Rd., Evansville, IN 47725 with Pastors David Niednagel, Dale Beaver and Cliff Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. The funeral service will be live streamed at https://cfcclassic.online.church/. Herman and Doris Bass
65th Anniversary
Herman and Doris Bass of Evansville plan to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.
Bass and the former Doris Hughes were married July 18, 1951.
They are the parents of Steven Bass and Pamela Bass, both of Evansville, and Belinda Roettger of Finksburg, Maryland. They have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Herman Bass retired from Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Co.
