Delma Arlene Bassett
Nov. 2, 1923 - March 19, 2008
Delma Arlene Bassett, 84, of Albany died Wednesday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
She was born in Bandon, the daughter of Arthur and Molly (Hoover) Baird.
Delma married Wallace C. Howard on march 18, 1944. He preceded her death on Feb. 25, 1980.
She married Frank Bassett on Nov. 1, 1980, in Albany. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2007.
She enjoyed working in the garden with flowers and plants. She was a seamstress, a top seller for Home Interiors, and a volunteer at Albany General Hospital. She was a member of the First Assembly of God and was active in her church, playing the piano and singing in the choir. At Quail Run, she was the resident plant and flower attendant and played the piano during meal times. She made wedding cakes for many years.
Delma is survived by children Gay Arlene Smith and husband Doug of Eugene, Stephen C. Howard and wife Jann of Woodenville, Wash., and Doug Howard and wife Ruth of Albany; stepsons Frank Bassett Jr. and wife Sharon of Minneapolis, Minn., and Dave Bassett of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother Marvin Baird, and sisters Evelyn Boice and Virginia Blenkner.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Albany First Assembly of God. Private interment will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
