Shirley Bass
Shirley Bass, 75, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky (formerly of Boonville, Indiana) passed away March 16, 2025, at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, Kentucky after a brief illness. Shirley was born on October 21, 1949, in Boonville, Indiana. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 58 years, Ronald, parents Wymond and Jessie Myers, son Jeffrey and granddaughter Lauren Gerkins Marr.
Shirley was a lifelong resident of Boonville, Indiana until 2015 when she and Ron retired and moved to Beaver Dam, Kentucky to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Shirley worked at the Boonville Standard for several years. She later worked for the law offices of both William Bruner and Mark Neff.
Shirley was a member of Pathway Baptist Church in Beaver Dam where she regularly played for services. She enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandson.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Sheila (Kyle) Gerkins of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Amanda (Justin) Shaffer of Hartford, Kentucky. Grandchildren include Ben Gerkins of Denton, Texas, Lucas Coomer, Amelia, Kaylee and Logan Shaffer of Hartford, Kentucky, and great grandson Jackson Marr of Nicholasville. Her sister, Debra (Kevin) Samples also survives.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Kentucky for their kind and compassionate care.
Services will be Wednesday March 19, 2025, at Bradley's Colonial Chapel in Boonville, Indiana. Visitation will be 11 AM until 1 PM. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 1 PM with Bro. Josh Slater officiating, a graveside service following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in Shirley's memory be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, Kentucky 42104.
