She was born on September 4, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of James Bass Jr. and Imogene Scott. She assisted her husband with the daily operations of O'Brien Distributing. She married Michael V. O'Brien Sr. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, Scott and Robert Ortwein and Michael O'Brien Jr.; four daughters, Debi Bagley, Michelle Almond, Christine Blackhurst, and Jill Fanning; a brother, Greg Bass; 14 grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road in Indianapolis. Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary in Indianapolis is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Julian Center, 2011 N.
