Jule S. Bassett Dead: Heart Attach Fatal To Pioneer
Jule S. Bassett, 78, a prominent resident of Adams County for more than a half century; died suddenly of a heart attack at about 8:30 o?clock last night at his home 812 North Minnesota avenue.
Mr. Bassett suffered the attack very shortly after he returned from an evening ride taken in company with his son, Assistant Coach Roy Bassett of Hastings High School Tigers. His death occurred a few minutes later.
Surviving Mr. Bassett are his widow, Maud E Bassett, six children, one brother and one sister. Julian Bassett of Hastings is the brother and Mrs. John Bergeron of Long Beach, Calif. Is the sister,
The children, other than coach Bassett are Mrs. R.W. Fisher and Mrs. Walter Fricke, both of Hastings; Mrs. Dan Kline of Trumbull, Mrs. Albert LaBrie of Giltner and Ernest Bassett of Long Beach, Calif.
Born November 17, 1862 at Assumption, Ill, Mr. Bassett came to Adams County in the fall of 1882, when he was a young man of 20.
He first worked for other farmers in this territory, later acquired a farm of his own. He has lived in Hastings in the Minnesota Avenue home since his retirement in the spring of 1918. The body is at Shea?s Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Jule S. Bassett who died last Wednesday night, were held at St. Cecilia?s Catholic Church Monday with Father Grogan celebrating a requiem high Mass. Burial was at Parkview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Kline, Camp Robinson, Little Rock, Ark; Arthur Kline, Trumbull; Glen LaBrie, Giltner; George Schueler, Inland; William Koenig, Harvard; Bert Trausch, Assumption.
Attending the funeral from out of town were Ernest Bassett, Long Beach, Calif, a son; and Jay Broderick, Los Angeles.
