Elizabeth Bass
One of the saddest events that has happened in our city during the past week was the death of Mrs. Martin A. Bass which occurred on Saturday of last week. For some weeks the Bass family have been suffering from typhoid fever. During the long siege of illness Mrs. Bass cared for her children with that devotion that only a good mother knows how to give. Mrs. Bass was taken down with the disease Jan. 13, and her condition being such as to baffle the skill of the best physicians and she was taken to her Maker.
Elizabeth W. Bock was born October 20, 1865 at New Welland, Ill., where she remained until fourteen months old when she moved to Oshkosh with her parents.
March 28, 1883 she was married to Martin Bass and came to this city where she has resided twenty-three years. She was a woman devoted to her husband and children and spent her time in making their home one of peace and happiness. She was a kind and obliging neighbor, a true friend and devout and practical member of the Catholic Church. Her death will not only be felt by the immediate members of the family but by the entire community who knew and liked her.
The funeral took place Tuesday from St. Mary's church with interment in St. Mary's cemetery.
She leaves besides her husband two sons and six daughters. Also an aged mother, stepfather, C. M. Genel, six brothers and one sister.
