Martin Lee Bass
Martin Lee Bass ("Marty"), age 85 of Wilmette, IL passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 10, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. Marty is survived by his daughter Marci, son Howard, daughter-in-law Kimberly, granddaughters Ana and Britta, grandsons Brandon and Zach, great granddaughter Ava, and great grandson Toran. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Merle, his parents Mabel and Irwin, and his brother Bob. A lifelong resident of Chicagoland, Marty was a graduate of Sullivan High School and Roosevelt University, and a devout Bears, Cubs and Bulls fan. He served honorably in the Army National Guard and was a corporate executive for most of his career, except for a few years when he and Merle owned a donut shop in Mundelein, where William "Refrigerator" Perry was a regular customer. A shrewd poker player, Marty also enjoyed watching movies and will be remembered as a very kind and loving person with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He will be missed greatly. A private memorial service is planned for later this year. Friends are encouraged to direct memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer?s Association.
