Homer ?Burt? Bass Jr.
NEW BUFFALO -- Homer "Burt" Bass Jr., 70, of New Buffalo died Sunday, April 8, 2001 at approximately noon at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at Kerley & Starks-Smith Funeral Home, New Buffalo. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Bass was born July 11, 1930, in Mint, Tenn., to Homer Bass and Sarah Hembree Bass. Both are deceased.
Mr. Bass was a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of New Buffalo American Legion Post 169.
On Aug. 13, 1954 in LaPorte, Ind., he married Kathryn G. Kuchel. She survives along with a son, Alan (Fawn) Bass of Baroda; daughters -- Christie (Gary) Ripley of New Buffalo, Vicki (Scott) Mohn of Baroda, Mari Kay (Jesse) Bailey of Portage, Ind., Tami (Ronald) Webb of New Buffalo; seven grandchildren -- Randy (Joann) Ripley, Kimberly (James) Ramsey, Nicki and Brandon Moore, Ray and Lisa Chapman, Darron Webb; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Ramsey; brothers -- Joe (Gladys) Bass of LaPorte, Ind., Otto (Arzadia) Bass of Maryville, Tenn., and Creed (Sue) Bass of Greenback, Tenn.; sisters -- Mary Norton of Alcoa, Tenn., Ernestine Robinson of Richmond, Ind., Johnnie (Lester) Schubert of Richmond, Ind., and Lola (Robert) Wright of Washington.
