Albert Eugene Bass
Albert Eugene Bass Sr., 67, of Chestnut Crossing, Springfield, Massachusetts. departed this life on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at Chapin Center Nursing Home. A graduate of Putnam (formerly Trade) High School, he also graduated from Springfield Technical Community College, American International College, and with a Masters Degree from Westfield State College. As a teacher, he taught at Millpond, STCC, and Westfield State. He also worked at various local companies, including Mercy Hospital, Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company, and the YMCA, just to name a few.
Albert was a former member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He was a semi-professional boxer and enjoyed basketball, football, and track. His favorite teams were the New York Knicks and the Greenbay Packers. He also sang R&B for many years. His favorite groups were The Whispers and Blue Magic.
Albert was pre-deceased by his father, Rufus Bass, his mother, Marion Bass, a sister, Delores, a brother Jerome, and a brother who died in infancy. In Albert's departure, he leaves his daughter, Monica, of Worcester, MA; a son, Albert Jr. of Gardner, MA; a sister, Ruth (Zollie) of Montgomery, AL; two brothers Gary (Cheryl) and David (Melissa), both of Springfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a cousin, Ollie Mae Harris (who was like a mother); a special friend, Levonne Love; a host of nieces and nephews; and many loving relatives and friends to celebrate his homegoing.
