He was a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., and came to the area 10½ years ago from Tallmadge, Ohio. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Punta Gorda. He leaves his wife, Thelma I. Bass of Punta Gorda; two sons, Walter A. Bass of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and David M. Bass of Ravenna, Ohio, two daughters Jean House of Buena Park, Calif. and Mary Scheu of Akron, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nine step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted later this week in Cuyahoga Falls. Memorial donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church of Punta Gorda building fund. The Punta Gorda Chapel of the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
