Emma Lee Jones Bassett, went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Mrs. Emma Lee Jones Bassett, accepted the Lord at a very early age, at Zion Chapel United Progressive Church in Natchez, Mississippi.
She moved to Gonzales, Louisiana in 1986 where she became a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Samuel Singleton, Jr. and later under the leadership of rev. Roosevelt James McMeller Sr. In which she served as a faithful member. Served under the leadership of Rev. Lauthaught Alonzo Delaney Jr. until death.
She retired from Gonzales Healthcare in 1998.
She was a loyal wife to her late husband Mr. Walter Bassett Sr. who departed life in 1968. In this union her children were born, Pamela Randale, Delores Miles (Grady), Peggy Bassett, Walter Bassett (Sandra), Sherry Maddie, Debby Bassett, Carolyn BAssett, Denise Bassett, Tracey Bassett-Collins, Catrena Bassett, and Dedrick Bassett (Detasha). One devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Leola B. Harris. One brother-in-law, Webb Bassett. A devoted friend, Pamela Baptiste & a host of nieces & nephews.
She leaves 29 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. One sister Rosemary Weber (New Orleans, La), two brothers Clarence Jones Jr. (Tywana), and Lewis Jones (Dallas, Tx.). She was a loyal, dedicated, and loving mother. Her greatest joy was being around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Emma Lee was also loyal to her friends. Although she was a woman of few words, she enjoyed laughing and having a good time. She always thought she had jokes even in her worst moments. She was known to many as ?Granny? even to those who were not family.
Preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bassett Sr. One sister, Cleotha Wright. One grandson, D?Angelo Bonds & four foster sisters.
