William Alexander Bass II, 54, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was born in Munich, Germany, and was most recently a resident of Rosedale, where he spent many happy days hosting family and friends at his home with his wife, Bonny. He was employed by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals as an administrative law judge. Previously, "Bill Bass" was a Vietnam War veteran, where he served in U.S. Army Airborne Intelligence, a welder with T.K. Valve in Hammond, a mechanic, and a sales representative for the oil industry. He is survived by four children, Stacy Bass of Albuquerque, N.M., Jimmy M. Bass of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Garrett Alexander Bass and William Alexander Bass III, both of Baker; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Carr of Butte La Rose; four grandchildren; and numerous friends in the Gulf South. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Maj. William A. Bass; and his mother, Gertrude Dejean Bass Hazelwood. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. There will not be a memorial service. Instead, as he wished, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
