Bette Marie Cadwell (Picture included)
Bette Marie Cadwell born on August 13, 1932, in Danville, VA, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 6, 2017, at the age of 85. She was a long time resident of Chalmette, LA until Hurricane Katrina. Most recently she was a resident of Metairie, LA. She was an active member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, a service organization that provides charitable services to their community, for over 25 years. For the first 15 years of her career, she worked with the Bell System. In 1970, she began working with Joseph Maselli and played an instrumental role when Mr. Maselli founded the Italian American Digest in 1973. She retired from the Italian Museum and Research Library after 43 years of service. In 2014, she was named Louisiana Woman of the Year for her service to the Italian American Community. She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and Samuel Bassett; brother John Wilson; husband Robert Cadwell, son Joseph Cadwell, and daughter Tami Constantine. She was a loving stepmother to Cynthia Cadwell. A devoted, loving, and overly motherly grandmother to her grandchildren; Jason Freibet, Stephanie Cadwell, Alex Gai, John Brown, Bridget Gai, Eric Gai, Lauren Boswell, and Joseph Wingfield. Great Grandmother of 14. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON.
