Geoffrey W. Bassett Jr. 30 husband of Vicky C. (Geurreiro) Bassett died Sunday at Martha?s Vineyard Hospital after being stricken ill while vacationing on the island. He was born in Brockton a son of Geoffrey W. Sr. and Patricia E. (Butler) Bassett of Easton.
Geoff was a lifelong Easton resident and a 1991 graduate of Oliver Ames High School and was active in Football and Baseball having achieved a letter in each sport. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 76 in Easton and enjoyed working on cars and golfing.
He was employed by Public Works Supply Company in Seekonk and was formerly with Everett J. Presoctt Co in Avon.
In addition to his wife and parents he leaves a son Tyler V. Bassett, a sister Kathleen Young, his paternal grandparents William G. and Tueflla (Mazukina) Bassett and his mother and afther in law Victor and Abia Guerreiro all of Easton also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his mass of Christan burial in the Holy Cross Church, Easton Friday July 18 at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be in the George L. Copeland & Son Funeral Home 38 Center St. Easton Thursday 2-4 & 7-9. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Bridgewater. In place of flowers donations may be made to the Old Colony Hospice 14 Page Terr. Stoughton, Ma. 02072.
