Jean Curtis Bass
Cochran ? Jean Curtis Bass, age 85, passed away peacefully Friday, November 4, 2016, at Green Meadows Personal Care Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Bass, born in Milan, had lived in Griffin and Cochran throughout her life. She was the daughter of the late Claude C. and Donie Scarborough Curtis and was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Ruth Silva, Becky Broshek, Lorene Dowdy, Claude Curtis, Wayne Curtis and Keith Curtis, her son-in-law, Glen Chance and her grandchildren, Kevin Grimes and Trinia Anderson Fountain.
Mrs. Bass took great pride in her family and instilled the value of education in all of her offspring. She graduated Valedictorian from Milan High School, earned a bachelor?s degree from Women?s College of Georgia in 1965 and a Master?s degree from Georgia College in 1971. Mrs. Bass had a long and fulfilling career in education with her teaching career beginning in Lumber City and Workmore Elementary Schools. She taught school and was a counselor in Cochran at Bleckley County Elementary and retired as a third grade teacher from Crescent Elementary in Griffin after 34 years in education. She was an avid reader, loved sewing with others, found pleasure in baking and gifting cakes and cheese straws. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Griffin, attended Cochran First Baptist Church and was a dedicated servant to the Lord, her family, church family and friends.

The family will greet friends after the interment Sunday at Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
