Shirley Marie Brite, 76, of 1384 Blindman Road, Elizabeth City, died at Albemarle Hospital on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Barclift officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 4, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of the deceased. Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Brite was the daughter of the late George Bass and the late Mariah Bass. She is survived by her husband, Lenial Brite Sr., of the home; four daughters, Angela Riddick, Darlene Cawthon, Denise White and Kathleen Overton; three sons, Lenial Brite Jr., Deric Brite and Eliot Brite; one sister, Blanche Bass; one brother, Daniel Blue; 15 grand children; one sister-in-law, Vivian White; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
