Death of Mr. A.E. Bass
Mr. Augustus Elijah Bass died at his home in this parish on Thursday morning, November 16, after several weeks illness.
Mr. Augustus Bass was the youngest son of Elijah Bass and Elizabeth Cogan, who moved to this parish from Mississippi and made their home at Myrtle Grove plantation, near Waterproof, where the deceased was born and for over seventy years had made his home.
Mr. Bass was married in September 1865, to Miss Jennie Farrar, eldest daughter of Judge Thos. P. Farrar, who survives her husband.
Mr. Bass has long been one of the largest planters in this parish. He has been intimately connected with the best of social, political and business life of Tensas.
Mr. bass was in his 73d year at the time of his death and was the oldest living native of this parish.
The funeral ceremonies were performed this morning. The deceased was buried in the family graveyard on the Myrtle Grove plantation, along side of his mother.

Waterproof, La., Nov. 17 ? A.E. Bass, one of the oldest citizens of the parish, died yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks.
