Fall Branch - Karen Hill Bassett, 46, passed away Thursday (March 03, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in Sullivan County on May 23, 1958 and was the daughter of Sallie Boggs Hill and the late Floyd Hill. She received her B.S. Degree from ETSU School of Nursing and was a registered nurse employed with Indian Path Medical Center. Mrs. Bassett was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Kingsport.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Cockrell and Rosalee Hill; niece, Shannon Bassett; brothers-in-law, Johnny M. Bassett and Tommy Bassett. Surviving are her husband, Jimmy G. Bassett, of the home; mother, Sallie Hill, Kingsport; sisters, Mrs. David (Linda) Carr, Blountville and Mrs. John (Mary) Thompson, Pineville, Kentucky.; brothers, David Hill and wife Janet, Gate City, Virginia., Elmer Hill and wife Judy, Clinchport, Virginia., and Merle Hill and wife Sabina, San Lorenzeo, California; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church, 2213 Brandon Lane, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at the church on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Carl Kelleher officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Music will be provided by Pastor Bobby Self, Eric Donahue, and Debbie Browning. Interment will follow services at Shepherd-Bowen Cemetery in Mabe community. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Hill, Brian Hill, Mathew Hill, Chad Bassett, Rick Miller, Phil Lockhart, Randy Ketron, and Eric Donahue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Karen Bassett Benevolent Fund for Single Mothers, c/o First Assembly of God Church, 2213 Brandon Lane, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660.
