Waneta Lucille Bass (Moody), age 89, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2020 in Raleigh, NC. She was born on September 1, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Catherine Lewis Moody and Benjamin Tillman Moody. Waneta spent her childhood and young adult life in Jacksonville, FL. She met her future husband, Paul Pratt Bass, when she was eight years old, and announced to her mother that she would one day marry him ? which she did on April 17, 1948. Together, they had four children, three of whom they raised in Jacksonville, and the fourth in Tallahassee, FL. In their later years, they returned to the Jacksonville area, making their home in Macclenny, FL. Waneta moved to Raleigh, NC, following the passing of her husband on February 11, 2017. She is preceded in death by her four sisters and three brothers: Wilbur, Marguerite, Voncile, Dorothy, Jesse, and Benjamin. She is survived by her children David Bass, Sandra Spell, Michael Bass, and Kelli Hansbauer. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Waneta will be buried beside her husband of 69 years at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, FL.
