Bass, a native of Monroe County, who worked offshore on dredging boats, died Tuesday at a hospital in Tulsa, Okla., where he resided. He was 71. Bass was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bass, and his son, Jerry Bass. Survivors include another son, Danny Wilson of Mexia; two daughters, Judy Rapaza of Westerly, R.I., and Sharon Wilson of Monroeville; a brother, D.W. Bass Jr. of Monroeville; seven stepchildren, Patricia Morgan of Mobile, Andy Lollar of Mobile, Tommy Lollar of Mobile, Cindy Williams of Fruitdale, Carolyn Wilkerson of Excel, Darlene Colligan of Florida and Diane Britain of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and 15 step-grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home in Monroeville, followed by a funeral service at the chapel. Burial will be at Bass Cemetery in Frisco City.
