Johnny Bass

Johnny Carlton Bass, 69, of Pine Bluff, died Friday at his home.
He was born March 23, 1935, at Camden, a son of the late Morris Bass and Esther Martin Bass.
He attended Fairview High School at Camden. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1973 with a degree in accounting.
He joined the Army while finishing school and served in Japan.
He worked for the International Paper Co. at Camden and was transferred to Pine Bluff in 1959, where he worked in the finishing and shipping department.
After graduating from college, he worked for the Health Care Facility and Hospital Co. as a business manager in Little Rock, Camden and Pine Bluff at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He retired from JRMC in 1994.
He attended the First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Carlton Bass II; and one daughter, Janet Ellen Bass.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy "Pat" Chambliss, whom he married on June 2, 1958, in Grant County; a son, Jason Bass of Maumelle; one daughter, Pamela Givens of White Hall; two brothers, Charles Bass of Camden and Billy Bass of Little Rock; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Salem Cemetery at Bearden (Ouachita County) with Rev. Gordon Topping officiating. Burial will be handled by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
