Edna M. (Bassett) Altendorf
JANESVILLE - Edna M. (Bassett) Altendorf, 84, of 1016 N. Martin Rd., died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Clinton on July 31, 1921, the daughter of LeRoy and Pansy Mae (Pike) Chamberlain, and was a 1938 graduate of Clinton High School. Edna married Vernon Bassett Sr., on Oct. 3, 1939; he preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1973. She then married John Altendorf on Aug. 15, 1974; he preceded her in death on March 30, 1986. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church and enjoyed sewing and cooking for family and friends. She is survived by her 4 children: Vernon Bassett Jr. of Janesville, Gary (Violet) Bassett of Rim Rock, AZ, Ginger Huffar of Beloit and John (Debbie) Bassett of Blaine, MN; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildrn; and a sister, Phyllis Morrison of Beloit. She was preceded in death by her parents; hsubands; son, William Bassett; infant daughter, Ruth Ann; granddaughter, Cheryl Bassett; daughter-in-law, Margene Bassett; son-in-law, Jerry Huffar; brother, LeRoy Chamberlain; and 6 sisters: Gladys Dary, Mildred Stockwell, Blanche Sargent, Evelyn Palmatier, Eleanor Radtke, and Vivian McKinney. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2006, at the Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul H. Garchow officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Beloit. Friends may call at the Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Ev.
