Walter Lynn Hice
Mr. Walter Lynn Hice, 72, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
Mr Lynn, born in Caldwell County, was the son of the late Ruth Hice and the widower of Linda Carol Bass Hice. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Martha Hice and a grandson, Donald George "Baby Trey" Sowney III.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served for 12 years and had retired following 28 years of Civil Service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. He was an avid hunter, he loved the outdoors and thoroughly enoyed the college football and basketball seasons where he pulled for the UNC Tarheels.
He is survived by his daughter, Lindsay Michelle Hice Sowney of Snow Hill; Lindsay's mother, Nancy Harrell of Goldsboro; step-son, William Robert "Bubba" Jarman and wife Tammy of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Lyndon GraceAnne Sowney and Natalie Danielle Sowney; soisters, Wanda "Peedie" Bumgarner of Hudson; Paula Opper and husband Alex of Hickory; and Marsha Winkler of Hudson; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at graveside at 2 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the Hice Family Cemetery, 1890 Shine Road, Snow Hill, NC.
The family entrusted the care of Mr. Hice to the Taylor-Tyson Funeral Home of Snow Hill.
