John Arthur Bass
John Arthur Bass, 55, died Monday, March 9, 2009.
He was born Aug. 14, 1953, to John Elliot and Rosemary Bass. He grew up in Iola.
At a young age, he joined Ward Chapel A.M.E. where he sand in the choir.
After graduation from Iola High School he moved to Flint, Mich., and became a student at then named General Motors Institute. He went on to gain a bachelor?s degree in industrial administration with an emphasis in economics which led him to a job at General Motors in St. Louis, Mo.
It was in St. Louis that he met Dionne Harrington. The couple were married Aug. 11, 1979.
Deciding to further his education, he attended Washington University in St. Louis where he earned a master?s degree in business administration with a focus on accounting. He became a certified public accountant and a founding member of the St. Louis Chapter of the National Black MBA.
He worked for more than 20 years as a project manager at Control data (Ceridian) before going to work at A.G. Edwards for nearly four years. He was an avid golfer, fan of all sports and an active reader.
He is survived by his wife, Dionne, his mother, Rosemary Bass, his father, John Elliot Bass, a daughter, Keesha Bass, a son, John Silas bass, a sister, Jennifer McKinzie, a brother Jay Bass and his wife Barbara; his mother-in-law, Delores Harrington; five sisters-in-law, Regina Snow and her husband, Frank, Millicent Johnson and her husband, Freddie, Roxanne Harrington, Melodie Wilborn and her husband, Joe, and Rhonda Williams and her husband, Neil; three brothers-in-law, D?Arcy Harrington, Marvin Harrington and Reginald Harrington; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He will be buried Friday at Granberry Mortuary, 8806 Jennings Station Rd., Jennings, MO 63136.
Memorial to American Cancer Society may be sent to the mortuary.
