Mother Of Local Attorney Dies
Mrs. Ann C. Bass, 82, Succumbs After 3 Weeks? Illness
Mrs. Ann Cartwright Bass, 82, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., mother of Francis M. Bass, attorney, of this city, died at 5 p.m. at her home in Goodlettsville.
Mrs. Bass sustained a fractured hip about three weeks ago and illness resulted which was complicated by the development of pneumonia.
Dr. C.W. Robb of Goodlettsville, who attended her with Dr. Robert Grizzard of Nashville, said that she seemed to improve for awhile and there appeared good hope for her recovery, but that after complications developed the situation changed and it was known for the past week that Mrs. Bass could not get well.
Mrs. Bass was a native of Goodlettsville and was married there shortly after the Civil War to Capt. J.O. Bass of Williamson county. She has been a very active member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Goodlettsville many years. Her husband, who is one of the leading farmers of Goodlettsville and a large property owner, is also organizer and president of the Bank of Goodlettsville. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary 4 years ago.
In addition to her husband and son, Mrs. Bass is survive3d by one daughter, Mrs. Nat F. Dortch of Louisville, Ky.; one brothers, J.B. Cartwright, Goodlettsville; three sistgers, Mrs. Sallie Cummingham of Goodlettsville; Mrs. Judge D.B. Bell and Mrs. R.D. Marshall of Nashville.
Funeral services will be held at the residence at 10 a.m. Monday with burial at ASpring Hill cemetery. The following nephews of Mrs. Bass will act as pallbearers: Charles Cartwright, R.A. Cartwright, M.T. Cartwrights, W.A. Cartwright, J.H. Cartwright, Walton Cunningham, Morris Cunningham, Ben Cunninham, George Marshall, R.D. Marshall, Jr.
