Lawrence Newton Bass
Lawrence Newton "Tex" Bass, 83, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Monday in Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home. Lawrence graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., as an electrical engineer. He was employed by Chance Vought Aeronautics then at FAA as an engineer and later as a private consultant in aeronautics/aviation. He was known to a variety of people by a variety of names such as "Sam," "Tex," "Larry" and Lawrence. His passions were traveling in the RV and doing genealogy of his family. He was also a private pilot. Survivors: Wife, Mary Alice Bass; brother, Cliff Bass and wife, Marjorie; nieces, Jacqueline Smith, Sandy Jones and Carla Sue Martin Smith; nephew, Jeff Bass and wife, Robbie; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and friend, Steve Kunkel and wife, Mary.
