1909-2001 Elmora, Pennsylvania
Bassett - Emily C. "Toots", 91, Elmora, died April 6, 2001, at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital, Altoona. Born May 3, 1909, in Nanty Glow, daughter of Harry and Margaret (Rose) Christler. Preceded in death by parents; husband, William B., who died in 1987; son, William; brother William Christler; sister, Bertha Gilonardo; and grandson William "Bumper" Bassett. Survived by children, Dawn, married to James Lane; John, married to former Monabell Lane; James, married to former Joann Mothersbaugh; Gary, married to former Louise Retscha; and Debra, marred to Francis Lamont, all of Elmora; and Richard, married to former Joan Shevic, Akron, Ohio. Also survived by 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Sister of Jessie Shaffer, Allport, and Chester Christler, Syracuse, New York. Retired nurses aide from Miners Hospital. Member of Bakerton United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary of Bakerton VFW. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, and from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon Monday at Bakerton United Methodist Church. Pastor Thomas Topar. Interment, church cemetery. Family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Bakerton United Methodist Church, c/o Pastor Topar, Box 492, Hastings, Pennsylvania 16646.
