Stephen Henry Bassett Jr.

Steven Henry Bassett Jr., 46, of Vernon, Connecticut, passed away suddenly on August 26, 2025, at Hartford Hospital. Born on May 16, 1979, in Willimantic, Connecticut, Steven was the eldest son of Karen Bassett (Boudreau) and the late Steven Henry Bassett Sr., and brother to the late Miranda Bassett.
He is survived by his soulmate, Jennifer Bassett (Suizdak); his children Jordan O'Neill, Victoria Bassett, Stephanie Bassett, Benjamin Suizdak, Caleb Suizdak; Briana Suizdak; and his grandchildren Bryleigh, Payton, Nova, and Lena. He also leaves behind his brother Kenneth Bassett, his sisters Melissa St. Claire, Shentel Royland, and Rachel Dirgo, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A painter by trade, Steven excelled in his craft and took pride in his work. Known for his larger-than-life personality, he was truly the life of the party, often found with a beer in hand and a smile on his face. He loved the outdoors, whether camping, fishing, hiking, or spending time by the ocean, and he never turned down a good road trip. Steven also enjoyed working out; especially showing off his skill at push ups, and even dabbled in cutting hair.
Steven will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will always remember his humor, energy, and the love he shared with those around him.
No formal funeral service will be held, but his family will host a private gathering to honor his life in the coming weeks.
