Liston J. ?Red? Bass
Liston James "Red" Bass, 56, of McComb and formerly of Harrisville, died April 5, 2012, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. today at Peoples Undertaking Company and continues at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church in Crystal Springs until services at 11. The Rev. George Payton, pastor, and the Rev. Julius Bass will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bass was born April 10, 1956, in Crystal Springs, to Luther and Myrtis Coleman Bass.
He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing and playing pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Cecil and Carrie Bass and Joe and Amanda Coleman; and a sister, Cornelia Bass Robinson.
Survivors include his companion, Bessie Brown of McComb; sons, Khris Liston Brown of Brookhaven and Liston Terrell Brown of McComb; daughter, Angelette L. Brown of Brookhaven; stepchildren, Sheryl Gilmore of Hazlehurst, Vanessa Gilmore Banks, Teresa Brown and Wylie L. Brown Jr., all of Brookhaven, Debra Brown of St. Paul, Minn., and Princella Brown of Wesson; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Naomi Coleman and Della (John) Walker, all of Crystal Springs, Carrie (Lemmie-Roy) Davis of Hazlehurst, Linda (Melvin) Powell of Terry, Marilyn (Donald) Alexander of Harrisville, Matthew (Sharon) Bass of Jackson, George (Mary) Bass of Florence and Luther (Gloria) Bass Jr. of Oma; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
