Death of Mrs. Hannah Root Bassett
Mrs. Hannah Root Bassett, wife of Thomas C. Bassett, died Monday morning at the home of her mother, Mrs. Agnes A. Root in this village. Her age was thrity years. For a year past Mrs. Bassett had suffered from consumption, during the last two or three months failing rapidly, yet possessing a serenity of spirit which remained in the end. During her sickness a loving family and friends did everything that could be thought of for her comfort, and she had a deep appreciation of their effrors tomake as pleasant as possible what she early recognized would be the final outcome of her illness. Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Bassett is survived by one child, a boy fo eight years, and two brothers, A.B. Root, of this village and John D. Root of Oneida. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church here, from which place the funeral took place on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Mr. Walker officiating.

Hannah Turner Root, eldest child of Edward and Agnes A. (Dutcher) Root, born May 9, 1859, at Cazenovia, died at Chittenango, December 30, 1889. She married Thomas Coon Bassett at Chittenango, N.Y., July 14, 1880. They had one child, Thomas Edward Bassett, born at Chittenango, May 18, 1881.
