Ludlow, Horace Bassett Dies In His Home
Ludlow, Nov. 25 - Horace Bassett, died this morning at his home, 210 Prospect street, after a long illness. He had been in poor health for some time, but suffered a relapse when he heard of the death of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Patterson, friday afternoon. Mrs. Patterson suffered a shock and fell downstairs, dying shortly after. She had just come from visiting him and her death affected him greatly. He was born at Champlain, N. Y., and came to Ludlow about 60 years ago, being employed by the Ludlow Manufacturing and Sales company until his retirement about four years ago. he leaves seven sons, Charles and Walter of Springfield, Arthur, Lionel and Horace Jr., of Indian Orchard, Albert and William of Ludlow; two daughters, Jesse and Lena at home. He was a member of the Catholic order of Foresters, Franco-American club and the Ludlow Athletic association. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at the Kapinos funeral home, with service to follow at St. John the Baptist church. Burial will be in St. Aloysius cemetery.
