Hubert A. ?Scoop? Bass (Picture included)
Hubert A. Bass, 63, died unexpectedly on January 10, 2015, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He was born on July 10, 1951, in Laurel, Mississippi, the son of Hubert L. Bass and Dorothy M. Bass. Hubert attended Mississippi State University, wherein he was the sports editor of the campus paper, The Reflector. It was his journalistic techniques that lead to his enduring nickname ?Scoop?. Shortly after graduation Scoop married his college sweetheart, Jan Crowell. This past September, Scoop and Jan celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. 40 wonderful years, filled with love and laughter, with their three children. Scoop was a selfless man whose kind heart and wonderful sense of humor was treasured and admired by those who loved him. Scoop loved to travel and was able to enjoy his passion for photography at all the beautiful destinations he and Jan visited. Scoop spent the last 15 years of his career as a Systems Manager at C Logistics, a division of Edison Chouest. He was a dedicated employee who found great joy in his work. Scoop is survived by his beloved wife, Jan Bass of Baton Rouge; his son, Stephen Bass M.D. of Paradise Valley, Arizona; daughters, Jana Bass of Baton Rouge, and Lauren Bass of Gonzales; and one sister, Pamela Bass Finnegan of Madison, Mississippi. Predeceased by parents, Hubert L. Bass and Dorothy Bass of Jackson, Mississippi. To honor Scoop?s request, there will be no funeral, as the family will scatter his ashes according to his final wishes. A visitation to pay final respects will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm this Saturday, January 17th at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home: 11817 Jefferson Highway Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
