Sarah Elizabeth Martin Of Near Ulman Dies At The Age Of 86 Years
Sarah Elizabeth Martin, of the Ulman community for many years, passed from this life April 2, 1941 at the age of 86 years, two months, and one day.
Mrs. Martin was born Jan. 31, 1855 near Ulman, Mo. of parents William and Melvina Bass. She is one of a family of six. Other members of her family which are deceased are as follows, 3 brothers, John, Henry, Isaac, and one sister, Mrs. Nancy Myers. One brother remains to mourn her passing, Rial bass, of California.
She was united in marriage Feb. 1878 to General C. Martin. To this union three children were born, Theodore F. Martin of Ulman, Mo.; Mellie Roark of Sioux City, Iowa, and Fred Martin, deceased.
Her husband, General C. Martin, preceded her in death in 1890 and in 1897 she was married to Jim Parkhurst. One child was born, Robert, at whose home she was living at the time of her death.
After the death of Jim Parkhurst, she was later united in marriage to William Martin. No children were born to this union.
She united with the Baptist church some 25 years ago.
She is survived by the above children, one brother, 14 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Warren Burd of Iberia at the Mt. Zion Church Thursday afternoon, Mr. 3rd, 1941, with burial in the church cemetery. Adams & Casey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
