Charles D. Bass, 76, passed away December 13, 2009 at his home in Camden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Sheppard Bass and Esther Martin Bass; two brothers, Johnny C. Bass and William P. Bass; and the mother of his children, Marie Trovillion Bass. He is survived by Mary Lou McManus Bass; three sons, Chuck and his wife, Rose, of Vicksburg, MS, Scott of Lake Helen, FL, John of Vicksburg, MS; a daughter, Carla Whitaker of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Gideon and Jeremy Whitaker and Nicole and Tyler Bass; and a great-granddaughter, Kile. Charles will also be greatly missed by Skip and Tami Toland of Monroe, LA, Hugh and Barbara McManus of Keithville, LA; Morgan and Judy McManus of Camden, and grandsons Curtis and Patrick McManus. Charles was an Army MP, worked for the Camden Police Department, retired from the International Paper Company - Vicksburg Mill, a security firm in Little Rock and most recently as a retired person with lots of outdoor interests. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the cremation arrangements. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
