Funeral will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Mingo Baptist Church in Sampson County. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his parents, M. and Mrs. Oliver H. Bass of Route 1, Clinton; his wife, Mrs. Elease West Bass of Dunn; two sons, Alton, Jr., and Dwight of the home; two daughters, Retha Hazel Rachel and Sandra Elaine of the home; five brothers, Harvey, Felton, Aaron and Oscar of Route 1, Dunn and Odeman of Route 1, Clinton, two sisters, Mrs. Ed Baggett and Mrs. Oscar Ten, Route 1, Godwin.
