  Notes	Danville and Rockingham County, Virginia, 17 October 2010 Ruby Shorter Bass She was born Jan. 24, 1911, in Danville, a twin daughter of John Shorter and Katherine Ann Durham Shorter. Mrs. Bass lived her entire life in Danville and retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church. Mrs. Bass was first married to Hazle Davis, who died Jan. 24, 1949, and later married Clyde A. Bass, who died July 11, 1991. She was also predeceased by a twin sister, Ruth Shorter Goble. Survivors include a son, Halcott M. Davis, and wife, Waltraud, of Beaumont, CA; a daughter, Peggy Ann Davis Dunn, and husband, Robert, of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Julia Shorter Mahan, of Atlanta, GA; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Danville Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Wayne Johnson. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is serving the Bass family.
