Ruth Olive Bass
BLUE MOUND - Ruth Olive Bass, 73, formerly of Clinton, N.C., died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) in her home.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Hopewell Methodist Cemetery, Newton Grove, N.C., with the Rev. Roger Hill officiating, Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth was born Oct. 28, 1929, in Harnett County, N.C., the daughter of Marvin and Emma House Elmore. She was known for her many talents as a seamstress and caterer, but most of all, a loving mother. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her son, James Haywood Bass and wife Mary of Faison, N.C.; daughter, Martha Ann Bass Mann and husband Ken of Boody; sister, Maggie West and husband Henry of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandchildren, Tracie Carlton of Blue Mound; Michael Mann of Boody; Jim and Allen Bass, both of North Carolina; great-grandchild, Olivia Carlton of Blue Mound.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Christine E. Bland.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. M. Velasco and the staff of Decatur Cancer Care Specialists, Decatur Memorial Hospital fifth floor nursing staff, Decatur Memorial Hospital nurses and DMH Home Health & Hospice Services.
