Mrs. Johnston died Monday in an Athens care center. She was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Van Zandt County to the late James Franklin and Mary Frances Brown Bass. She was a homemaker. Survivors include one son, Paul R. Alexander, Gun Barrel City; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Larry Wall, Carroll Springs; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
