Gene H. Bass
Gene H. Bass of Silver Spring, MD passed away on Wednesday, July 2 2014 and was the son of Betty Murphy of Smyrna and the late William Bass. Gene was born in Chester, PA on September 30, 1950 and raised in Brookside Park, Newark, Delaware. He joined the U.S. Army in September of 1969 and was a Vietnam Vet receiving several commendations including two Bronze Services Stars. Gene loved playing golf and flying remote control airplanes and was a past member of the Delaware R/C Club who's flying site is located in Lum's Pond State Park.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Michele Bass of Warwick, PA and her mother, Shirley Bass of PA; sisters, Millie Zimmerman of Glasgow, Dale Ann of FL; brothers, Bruce of FL, Dennis of TX, Francis of MD, Charles of TX, Robert of TX as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Friends are invited to join the family for Interment services which will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, July 9th at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gene's name may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20850.
